PMSA Memorial Malappuram District Co-operative Hospital is a 450-bedded super speciality co-operative hospital serving the people of Malappuram.
The foundation of the Malappuram District Co-operative Ltd (M-352) was laid on 19 September 1985, with its registration under the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act of 1969. This initiative marked a major milestone in the region's healthcare development.
Originally founded as Malappuram District Co-operative Hospital Limited, the institution was built to provide affordable and quality healthcare accessible to the community.


P.M.S.A Pookoya Thangal
1913 — 1975
In honour of
P.M.S.A Pookoya Thangal
Pudiya Maliyakkal Syed Ahammad Pookoya Thangal
Also known as P.M.S.A Pookoya Thangal of the Pookoya Family of Panakkad, South Malabar, he was an Indian Sayyid, community leader and Indian Union Muslim League politician from Kerala. Born in 1913 as the son of Sayyid Husain Shihabudden Al-Hussaini Ba Alavi, he devoted his life to the service and upliftment of the community.
Malappuram District Co-operative Hospital was renamed PMSA Memorial Malappuram District Co-operative Hospital on 16 February 1999 in his honour, as a mark of respect for his golden contributions to society.

Our journey
Milestones that shaped us
Foundation Laid
On 19 September 1985, the foundation of Malappuram District Co-operative Ltd (M-352) was registered under the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act of 1969.
Hospital Established
On 6 November 1985, Malappuram District Co-operative Hospital was established in a rented building with four doctors and a 40-bedded capacity.
Inpatient Services Launched
On 28 October 1987, the hospital launched its Inpatient (IP) services, expanding care for the community.
Own Building Inaugurated
On 26 June 1993, the hospital began operations in its own building, constructed on 89 cents of land, providing a dedicated space for quality healthcare.
Renamed PMSA Memorial
On 16 February 1999, Malappuram District Co-operative Hospital was renamed PMSA Memorial Hospital in honour of Pudiya Maliyakkal Sayyid Ahammad Pookoya Thangal.
450-Bedded Super Speciality
Currently operating as a 450-bedded super-speciality healthcare institution with three units serving the diverse needs of the community.
